Simply Impossible

Good morning!  I'm soooo happy to be with you today.  This the first project for Lost Cost Designs' Lost Coast Review!  I wanted to jump right in, so I created a couple of items for your viewing pleasure.  They are really quite simple since I only had a view images to work with, but I do love the way they turned out.

I started with a standard cardstock ATC blank then stamped it with Spray Webbing using sepia ink.  I then fussy cut a couple of images from an Alice collage sheet and added them to the card (they got moved around quite a bit until I was happy).  I outlined the words in black and white pen then added three pink flower embellishments.

To create this card, I started by stamping Grunge Tree with sepia ink onto a piece of plain card and then trimmed it up.  Since I was going for simplicity in order for the tree to stand out, I pulled out my trusted quote book and found one that really resonated with me.  I printed it out, trimmed it up, and glued it down to my card.  It was too plain so I outlined it with a brown marker.  Finally, I adhered my image to a prefolded card.

It's so great to be here designing for LCD.  Stay tuned for more wonderful stamping projects!

Until later..............

Altered Cigar Box, Tag, and Journal Page plus a Free Stamp from Gecko Galz

Good morning everyone!  I have several projects to share with you today, curtesy of Gecko Galz Collage Sheets.  First up an altered cigar box:

I took a wooden cigar box and covered it with paper from the Gecko Galz Graphicals Paper Pack.  I then cut out images from Hollywood Glam, matted them on black card and arranged them until I liked the layout.  I added german scrap around all the edges, and flat-back pearls and tiny black rhinestone across the top.  The entire box is covered in the Graphicals Paper and trim.

For this bright White Rabbit tag, I used a spatula and spread Dylusions Postbox Red and London Blue paint randomly across the tag.  I splattered LSG Cheshire Cat Cherry and Art Anthology Marlin all over and stamped randomly with a couple of Finnibar stamps.  I then layered my image from the Ask Alice collage sheet on top of coordinating paper and placed it on the tag. Finally I added sequins, brads, chipboard pieces, and buttons under and around the image.  A little Texture Lux Gold was scraped around to add a little more interest and shine.

This page is pretty simple.  I sprayed several colors of Art Anthology Colorations through the Joggles Flower Patch stencil and then dried.  I outlined the page with Maya Road fabric tape.  The image is from the Fairy Land Digital Stamp Set and was fussy cut and painted.  I scattered glitter randomly across the page using Soft Gel Medium and stamped and embossed the word "Believe".  Two butterfly charms complete the page.

And lastly, a Mother's Day Card using today's Free Digital Stamp.  I printed out the image and then fussy cut the mother, child, chair, and toys.  I painted the image with several colors of Silks (since they are translucent) and then added the image to a piece of colored card that was affixed to a white card base.  Happy Mother's Day was then printed on my laser jet printer, clued down, and outlined.

Now, that you've read through all of that, are you ready for you image?  Well, here it is!

Hope you enjoyed!  For more wonderful digital paper packs, collage sheet, and images, check out Gecko Galz on Etsy.

Coffee Journal Page

Good morning everyone.  If you know me, you know I love coffee.  This journal page is all about coffee and is courtesy of Technique Junkies stamps.

I started with a page in my paint journal.  You know, the one I smear excess paint and press dirty stencils into.  So, I can't actually tell you what colors I started with though I think I see a Tim Holtz Layered Stencil in there along with one from Faber Castell Design Memory Craft.  I did stamp the background with Technique Junkies Falling Checks, Swirls, Growing Wild stamps.  Next I stenciled some numbers using the Art Anthology Got Your Number stencil and Black Leather Jacket Sorbet.

I then splattered the heck out it with watered down white paint and black paint.  I stamped Drinking the Coffee with Versamark ink and embossed with Lindy's Terra Cotta Plum EP.  The coffee cup is from the Sizzix Bigz Fresh Brewed die.

I arranged everything the way I wanted it and then glued it down.  I do love my coffee.

Until later................

Just a few things I've been doing

Contrary to all the blog posts you see related to the two companies I design for, I've actually been doing other things.  Like creating items for swaps.

I participate quite frequently in the swaps held by the Yahoo Group Art For The Creative Mind.  I also create swaps for Paper Traders and Pocket Letter Pals (Ning site).  So what have I been up to lately?  Well, let me show you:

This box was a project I had created for Art Anthology but it was never published.  My term ended before I could get it up (I tend to work ahead).  I now use it to hold Gecko Galz images that I have cut from their collage sheets but not used.

This ATC was created for an AFTCM swap.  The theme was "The Eyes Have It".  I searched the internet until I found an image of an eye I liked, then I did a little doodling on the card itself.

This tag was for another AFTCM swap that dealt with Houses.  I used a couple of Dylusions stamps, a Dylusion sentiment, and of course, Dylusions paints!  I wanted the tag to be really eye-popping bright.

These three pocket letter pages for all created for Pocket Letter Pals swaps.  One wanted a Louisiana theme, one a purple/spring theme, and one was a wide open theme so I chose the ocean.  I like pocket letters quite a bit and am about to get started on another one.

Well, that's just a few of the things I've been up to lately.  More to come!

Until later........................

Today for your viewing pleasure, I have a journal spread and a card (yep, did another one).  First up, the journal spread.

I already had to background started since I had been playing around with a Stencil Girl stencil.  The Mama and Baby stamp fit perfectly with that stencil and I decided to go for it.  I got started by splattering the already started background with Art Anthology Juicy, Valentine, and Plush Colorations along with some watered down Gesso (yep, I'm all into splatters right now).  I then laid down some drywall tape on each side and stenciled over that with Art Anthology Off the Grid stencil and some brown ink.  Next I stenciled some numbers using Art Anthology's Got Your Number stencil and Black Leather Jacket Sorbet.  I then stamped Mama and Baby onto some mixed media paper with black ink, cut out the image and glued it down to my page.  The white between the two elephants was glaring, so I brushed on some Art Anthology Sandcastle Colorations to tone it down.  I added more splatters with watered down black Gesso then stamped Full of Love onto some tissue paper with Versafine ink.  I cut out the sentiment and glued it to the page using soft matte gel.  Done!

I played around with several different ideas to try and showcase this great stamp and decided on a card.  I used the Inky Bands tutorial from Simple Sassy Inking Techniques to get started.  I stamped Face the Sunshine in Versafine black ink since it's the absolutely blackest ink I have found and that's what this called for.  I trimmed up the image and layered it on some yellow polka dotted paper.  I then glued this down to my card, offsetting to the right.  I sprayed a piece of seam binding with Art Anthology Glorious and once it was dried, added it down the left side of my card.  I finished it off with mini flatback pearls.

Gecko Galz May Challenge - In The Garden

Good morning everyone!  This month's challenge over on the Gecko Galz blog is Garden of Dreams.  I got to flipping through all my Gecko Galz collage sheets and ran across the perfect image.  It was perfect for a fat book page.

I already had a piece of watercolor paper cut to size so I used that, but since the paper is being covered up, a piece of cardstock would have worked just as well.

1)  Cover your card with paper from the Gecko Galz Papilion Paper Pack.
2)  I used an image from the Gecko Galz Spring Gems collage sheet.  Trim.
3)  Layer your image on top of two colors of coordinating scrapbook paper and trim to size.  Set them at an angle to each other then glue everything together.
4)  Take a piece of Fern Garland (Alpha Stamps), emboss with light green embossing powder, and slight it up underneath the bottom of your image.
5)  Layer on Mini Roses in Variegated Pink, Yellow, and Pink (Alpha Stamps) at the bottom left edge of your image and at the top left corner.
6)  Slide some fern greenery down under your roses and a view vines in between your paper layers.

You are done!  I've begun experimenting with layering papers and embellishments in a format similar to what I have seen scrapbookers do (I watch a LOT of videos).  I have to say that even though I'm just started giving this a try, I really like the way it looks and you can expect to see more of it from me.

Hope you've enjoyed this.  Don't forget to get your entry in to the Gecko Galz challenge.  There's a great prize up for grabs!

Until later............
