At the Lake and Lock Up with Technique Junkies

Good morning everyone!  I have a couple of ATCs to share with you today that I created using Technique Junkies stamps.  I don't know what it is about ATCs but I just can't seem to get enough of them.

I started with a Bristol ATC and stamped Chain Link Fence using black Versafine ink.  I then embossed with clear EP.  I stamped the woman from The Rules onto a piece of mixed media paper, cut her out, and colored her with Art Anthology Colorations in Valentine, Glorious, Sandcastle, and Peacock Feathers, Art Anthology Velvet Portobello, and Metallique Gold Rush.  Next I stamped Lock Us Up onto a piece of mixed media paper, cut it out, wet it with water, then sprayed it with Art Anthology Glorious Colorations, edging it with washed tan ink.

For this ATC, I once again started with a piece of Bristol paper.  I stamped Boom Boom Room with turquoise pigment ink and embossed with clear EP.  I then colored in the open boxes with Memento Potters Clay ink, a painbrush, and a little water to blend.  I stamped the anchor and sentiment from Better At The Lake Set of 5 and cut them out.  The anchor was painted with Metallique Silver Spoon mixed with glazing medium and Art Anthology Kona Velvet.  I then ran a black Micron pen around the edges.  I sprayed the sentiment with water to wet the paper and then misted with Art Anthology Siesta Key and blotted.  I edged it with Memento Desert Sand.

Well, that's all for today.  Stay tuned for more projects.  I post throughout the month.

Dream Canvas for Gecko Galz July Challenge

Good morning everyone and welcome to another Gecko Galz Challenge post.  This month's wonderful theme is Moon and Stars.

To give you some inspiration, I decided to create a canvas.  Below is a step-by-step on how I created it.

1.  Gesso a 4x6 canvas panel.  Spray with Art Anthology Rustic and French Toast then dry.
2.  Drop Art Anthology Decadent Minx onto the canvas and smear with your fingers.
3.  Paint the edges with Diane Wakley Night acrylic paint.
4.  Cut out your image from the Moonbeams Digital Collage Sheet.  Add to the left side of the panel.
5.  Die cut a moon from chipboard and paint with Metallique Gold Rush.  When that is dry, add some Metallique Steampunk Copper with a palette knife.  Place on the canvas so it is "embracing" your image.
6.  Paint some stars with Metallique Silver Spoon and add them to your panel.
7.  Finish it up with some sentiments from Tim Holtz Small Talk.

The Gecko Galz Customer Challenge runs all month, so get your entries in.  The winner will recieve a $25 Gecko Galz Shopping Spree!  Visit http://geckogalzscrapbooking.blogspot.com/ for more information.

You've just seen Robin's project.  Her work is always wonderful and exciting to see.

Here is the hop participants in order:

Marilyn Hughes: http://dollsetc.blogspot.com/   YOU ARE HERE

Well, let's get started!  First up is a journal page I created with the new Oceanside stamp.

1.  Stamp Oceanside with Metallic Ink Dots.  You'll get a light impression.  Then, using a small brush, brush and pounce on color until you have a washed-out, watercolor effect.  Add some medium blue chalk with a brush to simulate water, taking care to make some areas darker.
2.  Mix a tiny drop of black ink with modeling paste and spread through Art Anthologies Bird stencil.  When that is dry, go over the birds with a white pen and a black marker until you like the way they look.  Refer to pictures of seagulls if you can't remember their markings.  Slightly smudge so they blend in with the overall soft look of the stamped image.
3.  Spray a little Art Anthology Glorious and Juicy Colorations on your craft mat and spritz with water.  Brush on your page, alternating colors until your sky resembles sunset conditions.
4.  Stamp Life is Better at the Beach from the Better at the Lake set.

1.  Stamp Something Will Grow in black ink.  Use the Misti to get a good, rich black image.
2.  Drop Art Anthology Radiance, Allure, and Panche Minx onto the tag and using a straw, blow on them.  You want to do this a drop at a time and blow until you have lines going everywhere.
3.  Using a white pen, dot the tips of the dandelion and then start circling inward.  Finish off with matching fiber.

1.  Stamp Mermaid Love with several different colors of ink (I like pigment inks).  You want your image to be light.
2.  Stamp Lake Rules from Better at the Lake set over Mermaid Love in black ink.
3.  Brush Art Anthology Glorious over the top of the tag, then pounce on Marlin Colorations that has been diluted with water.
4.  Paint a few chipboard clouds white and scatter then across your tag.  Finish with fiber.

1.  Stamp the cats from Strange Cats onto an ATC.  I used my Misti to get a very dark impression.  Emboss with black EP.
2.  Stencil TCW Mini Harlequins using silver embossing paste on the left side and bottom.
3.  Sprinkle on pink pigment powder and spritz with water.
4.  Stamp randomly across the card with French Text and red ink.
5.  Add rubons under the cats to ground them so they aren't just floating in space.
6.  Stamp the phrase from Strange Cats onto a piece of paper, run through a Xyron, and cut into equal sections.  Add to card.
7.  Finish by rubbing Walnut Stain DI around the edges.

June New Releases - Technique Junkies Blog Hop

Good Morning Junkies!!  Hope your June is off to a good start.  Here in south Louisiana, summer is in full swing and thoughts are beginning to turn toward the beach.  Cool breezes, rolling surf, and those lazy, hazy days, YAY!  Since June looks to be a great month, the Technique Junkies team is hosting a blog hop to share all the exciting new June Releases with you.  So join us today as we hop into June and showcase all the new stamps  Don't forget to to visit each team members blog in order not to miss any of the fun.  If you  haven’t started at the beginning, please visit the Technique Junkie Designer Blog (http://techniquejunkies.blogspot.com) so you are sure to catch it all!

You've just seen Robin's project.  Her work always impresses me to no end.

Here is the hop participants in order:

I sprayed the card with several colors of Art Anthology.  On the bottom I used Avocado and Sandcastle and for the top of the card I used Glorious, Siesta Key, and Marlin.  I then stamped Seagrass Lighthouse at the bottom and Beach Day across the top.  To finish up the index card, I hand drew squares and dashes around the edge.  It just doesn't photograph near as well as it shows in person (& I tried!).

I'm starting to feel a little more confident about creating cards, so I gave it a try with the Batick Shell Swirls stamp.  It makes the perfect card background.  I stamped it in black ink and then colored in the swirls with LSG Tiffany Lou Blue and Merci Beaucoup Mint.  I then matted it on a multi-colored piece of scrapbook paper.  Next, I stamped Beachin' It onto a piece of white card in Coral Ink and cut it out, matting it on the same scrapbook paper.  I ran a piece of multicolored ribbon with the same colors as my paper across the card and under the paper.  I placed Beachin' It over the ribbon, glued it down, and then mounted the entire card on a piece of white card.

Yep, there just HAD to be an ATC in the mix somewhere.  I stamped Keep Sailing onto my ATC blank in black ink using my Misti for perfect alignment.  I then used Art Anthology Glorious to color the moon, Valentine to color the flag, Marlin & Siesta Key to color the water, French Toast to color the edges, and French Toast & Salmon to color the boat.  I finished off by painting the stars with Metallique Silver Spoon and added a piece of (very reflective as you can see) black trim at the top.

Today for your viewing pleasure, I have a journal spread and a card (yep, did another one).  First up, the journal spread.

I already had to background started since I had been playing around with a Stencil Girl stencil.  The Mama and Baby stamp fit perfectly with that stencil and I decided to go for it.  I got started by splattering the already started background with Art Anthology Juicy, Valentine, and Plush Colorations along with some watered down Gesso (yep, I'm all into splatters right now).  I then laid down some drywall tape on each side and stenciled over that with Art Anthology Off the Grid stencil and some brown ink.  Next I stenciled some numbers using Art Anthology's Got Your Number stencil and Black Leather Jacket Sorbet.  I then stamped Mama and Baby onto some mixed media paper with black ink, cut out the image and glued it down to my page.  The white between the two elephants was glaring, so I brushed on some Art Anthology Sandcastle Colorations to tone it down.  I added more splatters with watered down black Gesso then stamped Full of Love onto some tissue paper with Versafine ink.  I cut out the sentiment and glued it to the page using soft matte gel.  Done!

I played around with several different ideas to try and showcase this great stamp and decided on a card.  I used the Inky Bands tutorial from Simple Sassy Inking Techniques to get started.  I stamped Face the Sunshine in Versafine black ink since it's the absolutely blackest ink I have found and that's what this called for.  I trimmed up the image and layered it on some yellow polka dotted paper.  I then glued this down to my card, offsetting to the right.  I sprayed a piece of seam binding with Art Anthology Glorious and once it was dried, added it down the left side of my card.  I finished it off with mini flatback pearls.

Flamingo Tag with Technique Junkies

Good morning everyone.  I have a fun tag to share with you today.

This is a fun stamp to play with.  Let me state up front that I used coated tags.  This does mute the vibrancy of the sprays somewhat.

First, I sprayed the entire tag with Art Anthology Sandcastle Colorations.  Then I sprayed Siesta Key, Wild Orchid, and Plush Colorations through a Joggles Flower Patch stencil and dried.

I stamped Flamingo by Technique Junkies with Palette Belle Rose using my Misti (how did I ever stamp without it!) and embossed with Lindy's Stamp Gang Hibiscus Rose Orange.  It wasn't quite dark enough with the colorful background so I re-stamped with black archival ink and then hit it with a heat gun to allow the ink to blend with the embossing.  I finished up with some matching purple fiber.

Thanks for dropping by today.  Until later.........

April New Releases - Technique Junkies Blog Hop

Good Morning Junkies!!  Hope your April is starting off great.  Is it finally warming up where you are?  Here in south Louisiana, things have been pleasantly warm for the past couple of weeks.  Now for all the April showers to start!  Since April is shaping up to be a great month, the Technique Junkies team is hosting a blog hop to share all the new exciting April Releases with you.  So join us today as we hop into April and showcase all the new stamps  Don't forget to to visit each team members blog in order not to miss any of the fun.  If you  haven’t started at the beginning, please visit the Technique Junkie Designer Blog (http://techniquejunkies.blogspot.com) so you are sure to catch it all!

You've just seen Karen's project and I think you have to agree her work is phenomenal!!  The things she can create always amaze and astound me.

Here is the hop participants in order:

In honor of the great outdoors-related stamps I received, I created a trio of ATCs.  Hope you enjoy them!

I LOVE this stamp!  Every time I look at this, I'm reminded of how much my husband and son love to fish.  I started by spraying the background with Art Anthology Juicy and Wild Orchid Colorations, blotting and drying until they were blended.  I then stamped Arm in Cast Stamp with Versamark black ink, added a trout embellishment, and then outlined the ATC with some swirly cirlce rubons.

This was super simple. I sprayed the ATC with Art Anthology Patience and Salmon Colorations and allowed them to run slightly.  I then stamped Crabby, Set of 3 Stamp Set and the Sentiment "Let's get crackin" that comes with the set in black Versamark ink.  I finished by adding "X"s, courtesy of a rubon, around the edges.

My last ATC required some finagling.  I sprayed the ATC with Art Anthology Juicy Colorations and dried.  I then laid my ATC in my Misti and eyeballed the placement of the Swans Stamp.  I inked up the stamped and with a baby wipe, removed all the ink except on the part of the stamp I wanted on my ATC.  I then stamped multiple times until I had a nice, very black image.  Next I stamped "SOAR" using the Almano Stamp Set.  Finally, I added dashes and dots using a rubon.

This along with the other two ATCs are part of a swap I participated in and they will be winging their way to their new homes soon.

March New Releases - Technique Junkies Blog Hop

Good Morning Junkies!!  Hope your March is starting off great.  Have your been getting snow or just some cold weather (it's been rainy, warm, and stormy here).  In anticipation of March being a great month and ushering in Spring , the Technique Junkies team is hosting a blog hop to share all the new exciting  March Releases with you.  So join us today as we hop into March and showcase all the new stamps  Don't forget to to visit each team members blog in order not to miss any of the fun.  If you  haven’t started at the beginning, please visit the Technique Junkie Designer Blog (http://techniquejunkies.blogspot.com) so you are sure to catch it all!

You've just seen Sally Lynns' project and I think you have to agree her work is phenomenal!!  Her cards and other projects are wonderful.

Here is the hop participants in order:

I had some really great stamps to work with for the hop, so I created a couple of projects:

Though cards aren't something I normally create, I saw the Bring Your Own Sunshine stamp and knew immediately how I wanted to use it.

1)  Stamp Bring Your Own Sunshine with black Staz-On ink onto a piece of acetate.  Trim to size.
2)  Cut a piece of yellow card slightly larger than your acetate.  Glue together with Glossy Accents
3)  Cut a piece of scrapbook paper (mine was printed with umbrellas) and mat to a piece of red card, cut to your desired card size.
4)  Add your previously mounted image to the matted card.

I veered back to my normal with the following tag.

1)  Spray a tag with Art Anthology Salmon Colorations.
2)  Stamp Vintage Butterfly Collection in black Versifine on your tag.
3)  Stamp Vintage Butterfly Collection several times in different colors.  I used Purple, Rose, and Teal.  Trim out a view butterflies.
4)  Add your colored butterflies over their matching images on your tag.
5)  Stamp Wings of Possibility onto a piece of tissue paper, trim closely, and add to your tag using matte gel medium.
6)  I happened to have a molded butterfly that I added to the bottom right corner.  Any butterfly painted in a complimentary color will work.
7)  Add fiber in matching shades.

Love the new March Releases?  Well, they are currently on sale for 15% off through March 8th!   Go to http://techniquejunkies.com/ click on March 2016 Releases.
