Movie Tag Anyone?

This is the second of three installments showcasing projects I created with Gauche Alchemy’s Showstoppers Kit.

Today, I want to share the movie-themed tag I created.  When I saw the magazine clipping with the skull in the background, I HAD to do something with it.  Talk about a totally cool pic!

I think the gold punchinella sets the picture off perfectly.  And I just adore the green satin roses I found in the kit. The “feature film” is a transparency from an Altered Arts kit set on a piece of white ouchless cardboard.   The tag was spritzed with Tattered Angels mists to give it a touch of color.  Who wants a plain old manila tag?  Not me!

See, told you it was cool!  If I’m not mistaken, this is from an interview done to promote a film in the 1950’s.  I was more interested in the pic than I was in readying the article.

Here, I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Old Paper to grunge up the ticket that came from the kit.  I then placed it and a transparency from the same Altered Arts kit on top of a piece of white ouchless cardboard.

Please stay tuned for the third and final installment in my Showstoppers project series.  It’s the main attraction!

Until later…………………………..

FINALLY, ART! – Grecian ATCs

WOO HOO!!!!!  I can share! I can finally share!  LOL

As you know by now, I’m on the Gauche Alchemy Design Team.  Since my projects for Gauche Alchemy have now hit the world wide web, I can share them with you.   Today, it will be the Grecian ATCs I created.  Please note that these were made using images from their Showstoppers Kit.

I saw these Grecian beauties on a magazine page included in the kit and HAD to make ATCs for them.  They practically jumped off the page and screamed “PICK ME, PICK ME”!

The flowers are from Prima & Reflections.  Butterflies are cut from a border by K&Company.  I can’t remember who made the iridescent leaves but they came from Alpha Stamps as did the gold stickers.

I LOVE the way these turned out.  And, since they were a Design Team project and not a swap, I actually have some of my own art for a change!

My favorite is “Free Spirit”.  The ATC came out just the way I envisioned.  In fact, it practically created itself!

Stay tuned for more Showstoppers Kit projects.  I think you’ll enjoy them.

I Have Not Stopped Creating

Yep, I know it’s been awhile since I posted any of my projects, but I have been extremely busy.  The reason you haven’t seen anything is because the projects are for Design Teams and therefore I have to wait for them to post my projects to their sites before I can post here.

In the meantime, I’ll give you a peak at what I’m working on now.  I took these shots in my studio yesterday.  Yes, I do leave the door open when it’s pretty and not too hot.  I like the natural light.

So now you see what my desk looks like when I’m in the middle of something.  Oh, and it’s even worse today because I pulled out more items to work with.

What you are looking at are six projects; one finished (I made two ATCs - they are kind of hidden), three in process, and two in the design stages.  Looks like a big mess huh?

Below is something I’ve been working on.  What I couldn’t decide was what to do with it BUT I think I have some idea now.  I went trolling through my images and now have two competing themes to decide from.

What I like about this is the effect I got when I stamped the image in VersaMark ink and then embossed over it with Emerald Embossing Powder (it’s on a plain old piece of Bristol board).  Now to just pull the rest of the elements together (once I decide which theme to go with) & get it done.

As for the ATC project I did complete, I’ll have pictures taken and uploaded soon.

Until later…………….

Ants in Your WHERE?!?!!?

I’ve had a problem in my studio for two weeks now.  My middle set of lights wouldn’t work.  I’d flip the switch, they’d flash a few times, then go dark, or they would do nothing at all.  Even on a  normal day the lighting in my studio is inadequate (I supplement with a mixture of OTT lights and desk lamps), so it’s been even worse.

Hubby to the rescue!  Yep, I’m married to an Industrial Electrician.  I just KNEW he could fix my little electrical problem.  So, this afternoon, after a trip to Lowe’s (we had to get parts to fix the windshield on Number One Son’s boat), he decided to tackle my lights.

Was it a bad wire?  NOPE  Bad light fixture?  NOPE  What it was was ANTS!

Yes!  Stupid ants got into the switch and were interfering with the flow of electricity.  Hubby messed around with the wires, got a few more to fry, and when the lights came on and stayed on, told me to leave them turned on for a few days.  Yes DAYS!  He said that way they would continue to fry until all of them were dead.

In the meantime, Number One Son is to RESPRAY the outside of my entire studio, concentrating around the doors, windows, and seams.  See, my studio is a converted metal storage building in my backyard and even though I sealed it as good as humanly possible, things get in (remember the lizards?).  Plus, it sits under an oak tree.  Good for shade on hot southern summer days, NOT GOOD for anything electrical!  Apparently, the ants are coming out of the oak tree and into my shop.  Electricity seems to draw them like a magnet.

While Hubby worked on the lights, I decided to add one of those multiple outlet things so I could plug more stuff in (I have tons of outlets, just not where I need them).  I had been wanting to plug my computer into the outlet by my worksurface, but due to lack of plug space, had run it’s cord across the floor to the other wall.  Klutzy me had already tripped over it once.  Well, when I moved that little three outlet surge protector thingy (yes, thingy LOL) to my workspace wall (where my computer is now plugged in, YES!) and took off the faceplate to install the big multiple outlet, there were fried ants EVERYWHERE!  UGH!  Ant Bar-B-Que.

So, how did YOUR day go???????

Magic is in the Air ATC–Steampunk Style

I’ve recently started participating in swaps over on the Blissfull ATC Swaps blog.  They’ve had some really cool themes lately and this month’s was no exception.

May’s theme was “Magic is in the Air”.  Okay, I have to admit to something REALLY embarrassing.  For a week or so, I actually thought the theme was “Music is in the Air” and had planned an ATC around that theme.  However, something made me double-check and DUH (face-palm) I had it wrong.  Time to rethink everything.

A day or so later, while cruising down the internet highway, I came across the Olde Curiosity Shoppe blog, one of my favorites (you’ve really GOT to go check it out).  Well, wouldn’t you know, she had the PERFECT picture for me to use.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I thought the tarot card image was cool, fit the theme, but was at a total loss as to how to proceed.  So, I whipped out my two Creative Memories PCP binders and started digging through all my stickers and embellishments.  The above is what I came up with.  It’s a mixture of Prima, German scrap, a rubon I made myself, and Jolee’s (love their new Steampunk borders!).  It’s really hard to tell, but anything that is colored is a shade of purple (even the background…..my camera and lights turned it bluish).

Yes, total departure from my usual.  I have never, ever done anything remotely close to a Steampunk-style card so image my surprise when this emerged from beneath my fingers.

Total LOVE!  I’ve hear that Amy Yingling, my swap partner, loves it as much as I do!

Until later………………………….
